The Referral Relationship

General Dentists rely on Specialists to assist them in managing the needs and problems of their patients. Specialists rely on General Dentists to provide referrals that are appropriate to their expertise. Patients in turn rely on the General Dentist and the Specialist to cooperatively assist them with dental problems. When this relationship is harmonized all three parties benefit. The General Dentist is relieved of the stress of managing treatments that may be beyond the scope of general practice. The Specialist benefits by being able to be utilized according to his or her extended training and experience. Most importantly the patient benefits by having a collaborative diagnosis and treatment execution with a minimization of adverse outcomes.

The Vancouver clinic of Dr. Dennis Nimchuk is a full service Prosthodontic Practice. We specialize in complex restorative dentistry and in dental implant surgery and in restoration with dental implants. We have our own on-site dental laboratory, staffed with superior Dental Technicians who are trained in the most up-to-date techniques including computer aided virtual design and CAD-CAM. We provide the following services:

1. Referral diagnosis, opinions, treatment plans and reports pertaining to Prosthodontics.
2. Expert evaluations and medical-dental-legal opinions.
3. Treatment Services: including single crowns, multiple crowns, esthetic veneers, all-ceramic restorations, fixed bridges, partial and complete oral reconstructions, implant planning, implant surgery, implant restorations, complete and partial removable dentures, functional occlusal analysis, occlusal adjustments and modifications, TMJ evaluations, dysfunction splints.
4. Specialized Dental Laboratory Services.
5. Restorative and implant advice and mentoring.

Mentoring for Study Clubs

I have provided continuing education for over 25 years and have given over 700 lectures locally, nationally, and internationally. I have consistently scored in the 85 to 100 percentile of audience evaluations in my continuing education courses. I have mentored to over 20 study clubs and have provided hands-on training to over 200 dentists helping them to become better Dentists.

My Study Clubs usually involve having ten to fifteen dentists who meet under mentorship guidance one day monthly on an ongoing basis. Our preferred facility is the world-class Sirona Center for Continuing Education which has state of the art projection facilities and an eleven bay operating facility.

The mentoring schedule usually has two components, a didactic one based on lectures and interactive discussion with literature support and a clinic component where the attendees bring patients to have various restorative, implant restorative or implant surgical procedures done under supervision.
